District: Texas, 14th District
General Election: 11/06/2018
”I believe education is how we bring opportunity within anyone’s grasp – and my life has proven it. But there are other obstacles now, and things are different for working families today than when I came up... When I look around our district, I see a lot of people hurting, but I also see tremendous possibility.” - Adrienne Bell
Justice Democrats is proud to support candidates with a positive vision for our future. As establishment strategies continue to fail the people, Adrienne fights for a platform to uplift the lives of the extraordinary people she would represent by replacing the incumbent and fighting to:
- Ensure divide between police and community ends by demilitarizing police
- Combat job crisis by incentivizing local hiring and supporting small business
- Ensure the public schools receive adequate funding
- Fund vocational programs and technical schools
- End the war on drugs and remove mandatory minimum sentences
As a native Houstonian, Adrienne has witnessed the decline in opportunity for working-class families. She is currently an educator with the largest school district in Texas. She has spent years in education and understands the positive impact reinvestment in education would have in the district. Adrienne wants to wield the power of government to help regular people – to be a voice for the people ignored in our current political climate. She has served as a Deputy Field Director with Battleground Texas/Wendy Davis for Governor, and on the Houston staff for the Obama 2012 election campaign. She has plans for new investments through federal grants to revitalize the port cities, rebuild infrastructure, and create green jobs across the district. Texas has one of the most robust economies in the country and there’s no reason the 14th shouldn’t also be an economic leader. She will push legislation to secure equity in education, because she believes an education should not be based on a student's zip code. She believes in a woman’s right to choose, and will fight for criminal justice reform. Adrienne believes everyone deserves healthcare, a good education, and the opportunity to succeed. That’s what she will fight for as your representative.
”But at the end of the day, you can’t work if you’re sick and can’t afford treatment. That’s why I believe healthcare is a human right. I know Texas is ready for single payer even if Rep. Randy Weber doesn’t agree. Weber joined his Republican colleagues in voting for American Health Care Act, but I’m watching these town halls and I’m talking to voters in our area. I see Republicans and Democrats alike demanding better options.” - Adrienne Bell
