”Every woman, man, and child in the United States deserves quality health care as a right. That’s why I’m fighting for single-payer Medicare for all.” - Brent Welder
Justice Democrats is proud to support candidates with a positive vision for our future. As establishment strategies continue to fail the people, Brent fights for a platform to uplift the lives of the extraordinary people he would represent by replacing the incumbent and fighting for:
- A $15 Minimum Wage
- Campaign Finance Reform and money out of politics
- Middle-class workers and an end of Right-to-Work legislation
- Fair treatment and opportunities for women and marginalized communities
- Racial justice through more equitable legal, political, and economic systems
- Ending student loan debt and free pre-kindergarten education
- A clean energy economy that will provide more jobs and slow global climate change
- Better VA Benefits for our veterans returning home
Brent Welder is running for Congress because billionaires and giant corporations have too much control over our government. After law school, instead of joining a big corporate law firm, Brent continued with his passion—supporting workers’ rights as designated legal counsel for a national labor union. In these roles, Brent worked with local and national leaders to create better paying jobs, revitalize small businesses, and achieve better access to good healthcare. Brent understands the pain and fear that too many families face. Brent held key positions with Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Patrick Murphy, the first Iraq Veteran elected to the U.S. Congress. As National Field Director for the Teamsters union, Brent organized over a million union members for better wages, benefits, and workplace safety. But for far too long under our rigged economy, giant corporations have been taking advantage of our communities and workers through lower wages and higher prices—shipping the profits away from our community to Wall Street banks and off-shore accounts. Brent is running to fix that. He will represent hard working Kansas families—not billionaires and giant corporations.
”As a worker’s rights advocate and labor lawyer, I’ve spent my career fighting the giant corporations that rig the economy against workers and our community. I’m fighting for workers. I’m fighting for hardworking Kansas families and small businesses. I’m fighting for a better tomorrow for my kids and yours. I’m fighting for your voice.” - Brent Welder
